Well, we’ve already seen what can happen when American players go to Japan to play baseball and get a little perturbed at being hit by a pitch, but if that wasn’t reason enough to end Japan’s professional baseball leagues, then maybe this is.
I’ve seen a fair amount of foul balls during my day (feel free to insert joke about my seeing ‘balls’ at this juncture), but I’ve never seen a professional player manage to foul one back into his own grill. And I have no doubt that had to hurt unbelievably, but doesn’t the stretcher seem like a little bit of overkill? I mean, if one of these Japanese players pulled an Aaron Rowand or Ryan Freel in center field, what would the Japanese do? Bury them on the spot and get the tombstone planted in the outfield? All the more reason to end professional baseball in Japan.
Then again, if getting rid of professional baseball in Japan would mean I’m forced to endure more Masao Kida caliber players, I’m not so certain I’m for this purging anymore.
