Isiah Thomas Can’t Win on Talent, Allegedly Asks Cheerleaders to “Make Refs Happy”

Isiah Thomas is obviously happy that he’s been able to convince the Knicks to let him keep his job.

One would think New York Knicks GM Isiah Thomas would work harder on fixing his team of not-so-lovable losers by luring better players or hiring a better coach. Of course, those things take some degree of management skill. Instead, it has been alleged ol’ Zeke asked cheerleaders to use implied sexual favors to bribe the referees into calling the game in the Knicks’ favor:

Anucha Browne Sanders, a former senior vice president of marketing and business operations, filed documents to answer the Knicks’ attempt to have her lawsuit dismissed.

In the papers, which were unsealed Friday, Browne Sanders alleges cheerleader Petra Pope told her Thomas encouraged Pope to flirt with officials before a game against the Nets in 2004, the Daily News reported.

“What she told me was that Isiah asked her to go into the referees’ locker room and make them happy,” Browne Sanders testified.

It should be noted that Sanders is suing Thomas for sexual harassment.

If this allegation is true, Isiah should take this racket full tilt: In addition to the refs, get those cheerleaders working the opposite team, scoreboard operators, guys in the booth and opposing fans. It’s a winning strategy!
