Padres Reportedly Interested In Milton Bradley. Uncertain If They Will Remove All Balls From The Clubhouse To Protect The Fans.

Thankfully the field in San Diego is big enough to support another Bradley outburst that would end up with him chucking balls into the outfield…

Word out of San Diego is that the Padres are interested in adding much-maligned outfielder Milton Bradley to their roster. Bradley, who’s been known to exercise a level of self-restraint that’s akin to that exercised by Bruce Banner, has been spending the last season-and-a-half toiling in Oakland with the likes of Mark Ellis, Marco Scutaro, and Mark “Mr. Cooper” Curry.

Bradley is certainly a talented player, but would Padres’ G.M. Kevin Towers be wise in brining in baseball’s equivalent to Mt. Vesuvius to a laid-back environment like San Diego? My initial reaction would be no if for the sheer fact that Padres’ fans don’t deserve to have Bradley attempt to shower them with baseballs if he flips out and has one of his historical rants. But then I realized that in cavernous Petco Park, Bradley would have to spend a couple years hanging out with Sammy Sosa and Scott Steiner before he’d have the arm strength to throw baseballs into the outfield and near the fans in the stands.

Go for it Kevin Towers. If for no other reason that it gets Bradley out of the AL and I don’t have to worry about him attempting to kill Justin Verlander if the A’s ever play the Tigers and Justin lets one slip.
