Winger sports the retro Capitals’ jersey, which I’ll guess about 75% of the world didn’t know the Capitals were not wearing for the last decade plus…
The Washington Capitals will return to their patriotic roots, going back to the red, white, and blue color schemed jerseys they adorned for so many years, starting next season. In case you didn’t notice, the Capitals have spent about the last 12 years or so playing with jerseys that were some putrid shade of blue reminding me of the Detroit River’s color. Their previous jerseys also featured a Bald Eagle toting part of a flag, obviously trying to really build on the Capitals’ nickname.
Truthfully, I don’t know how the Capitals ever could’ve abandoned their original jerseys, when the biggest legacy behind them was this epic cheap shot. Nevertheless, I’m sure Ron Tugnutt is happy with the new retro look somewhere. And yes, there’s about a 94% chance I wrote this whole post so I could mention Ron Tugnutt, a goalie who provided me with so many laughs as an elementary school adolescent.
