Bruiser’s Bet: Kei Igawa is the Key to Tonight’s Game

June 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

Igawa is the key to the Yankees winning this game tonight

The Padres let me down two days ago but that is no reason to worry. Today I see a really great value in the Yankees and look to ride them to the bank. My record now stands at 163-119-2 over my last 284. Let’s get to games and win some dough.

Today I look at the Match-Up between the N.Y. Yankees and the San Fransisco Giants

1. Matt Cain can’t buy any Run Support.
San Francisco’s woeful offense, always steals the show when Matt Cain takes the mound. Cain’s gems in his last two starts were negated by his teammates being shut out in each by opposing hurlers. The Giants have lost each of Cain’s last six starts, combining to score only 10 runs over that span. Not to mention today he faces the Yankees which have the power to hit him all over the park.

2. Igawa Makes me Confident.
I am very comforted by Kei Igawa’s last three starts in the minors where he had an ERA of 1.80 while allowing only 15 hits and striking out 21 batters in his 20 innings. I like these numbers.

3. Over the Last 12.
the Giants have a 2-10 record over their last dozen games and 3-9 interleague record overall. I just love the Yankees value in this one.

Bruiser is taking the Yankees (-114) over the Giants
