VIDEO: If This Is What It Means To Be A Hardcore Red Sox Fan, I’m Glad I Don’t Live In Boston

June 16th, 2007 · No Comments

Maybe it’s from reading one too many Bill Simmons columns, or from watching the cinematic abortion ‘Fever Pitch’, but I get the feeling Boston Red Sox fans have always felt superior to fans of other Major League Baseball teams. True, they have a rich tradition, a rabid fanbase which undeniably follows the game with far more detail than most other fanbases, they recently broke one of the longest title droughts in professional sports, and they have a stadium that oozes nostalgiac memories. That being said, I’d have to say I’m downright exuberant that I am not a Red Sox fan after watching this jackass get way too excited to hear Ram Jam blaring over the Fenway PA.

I’m a Tigers’ fan, and I’d have to say, if you tried to do something like that in Comerica Park, you wouldn’t hear some woman in her annoying east coast accent say “Oh Moy Gawd” (as you do in the clip above), but rather you’d get your ass kicked and be thrown West of I-75 in Detroit and left to fend for yourself at night. I’m officially on the Tony Kornheiser bandwagon now after watching this guy; down with the Yanks-Sox rivalry receiving so much national media coverage. Not since Steve Bartman has one man brought so much shame to a single fanbase. I mean, what will it take for the other Sox fans in Fenway to tell this guy to sit down and stop looking like such an R-Tard? Maybe next home game he can start dancing to ‘She Drives Me Crazy’ by the Fine Young Cannibals and everyone in Fenway can stand up and applaud him for being the best fan ever. Either way, I officially declare the reign of Boston allegedly having the most baseball rabid fanbase as being over, just because of this guy’s absurd dance to ‘Black Betty’.
