Craig gave us a glimpse into what his 2007 campaign would be all about with his strikeout epidemic in the 2006 World Series…
I have absolutely no data to verify this claim, but I bet Detroit Tigers‘ outfielder Craig Monroe spent his Thursday night in downtown Detroit at the clubs trying to pick up some of Metro-Detroit’s finest women. And I’m also going to go out on a limb and suggest Craig was shot down on each and every one of his pickup attempts. Why would I make such an assertion? Perhaps because C-Mo struck out all day on the baseball diamond, so there’s no reason to think he didn’t bring his strikeout misfortunes off the field.
Craig tied a Detroit Tigers’ record by striking out a punishing five times in yesterday’s series finale against the Milwaukee Beer-Makers. One of Craig’s lovely K’s came with the tying run on 3rd with one out in the bottom of the 9th. However, the fans weren’t totally upset with Monroe; he did create a small whirlwind with his at-bats in Comerica Park that helped cool them down in the midst of a Sahara Desert heat-like atmosphere.
I’ve gone to a fair share of Tigers’ games this season, and C-Mo likes to come up to bat to the musical masterpiece ‘Walk It Out’ by UNK (If 2Pac were alive, we’d never have to listen to this Mims and UNK garbage that people call rap today - damn you, you unknown assailant). Allow me to be the first person to suggest that Craig pay Eminem, ICP, Esham, or some other Detroit rapper to remix that song so it becomes ‘Strike It Out’, then perhaps he’ll be coming out to a song that’s slightly more appropriate.
Couple this performance with Craig’s opening day performance, which reminded me of pig feces, and that my friends, in the words of the immortal Mims, is why Craig Monroe is not hot.
