Michael Vick Is A Grounded Bird

June 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Mike Vick better get used to flying using his own body now that he’s no longer a preferred customer at AirTran…

No word on if Nike plans on shutting down The Michael Vick Experience in the wake of embattled Falcons’ quarterback Michael Vick’s dog-fighting scandel, but we can say with certainty that AirTran has dropped Ronnie Mexico from their list of athlete endorsers. Tad Hutcheson, an AirTran spokesperson who is probably just giddy that his name will actually show up in newspapers in Michael Vick columns, recently commented on AirTran’s dismissal of Vick:

“We still have lots of football endorsers like Warrick Dunn and Brian Finneran, and Peyton Manning endorses us in Indianapolis. Our football ads typically start in August, and we’re assessing our needs at the moment.”

Hmmm, funny how AirTran wants to drop such an upstanding citizen. I mean, who doesn’t want someone doing their best to berid America of mean dogs backing their products? What’s going to be next? Sprite and Adidas dropping one of the greatest NBA players of all time for some inconsequential allegations that he bumped uglies with a high-schooler? Plus, as long as AirTran has Brian Finneran and his 187 career catches over 8 years in the bag, people will be ‘flocking’ (awful pun fully intended) to AirTran. If only AirTran could land Roddy White and his 59 career catches over the past 2 seasons, I bet they’d surpass Northwest and Delta Airlines in a heartbeat.
